 i Boulanger’s For the funeral of a soldier is her first surviving chor
 al work. Although she was only 19 at the time\, its orchestration\, and us
 e of modes display her prodigious skills that helped her win the Prix de R
 ome the following year.\n\nSaint-Saëns\, who was in the audience for the 
 premiere of Charles Gounod’s St. Cecilia Mass\, described “This simpl
 icity\, this grandeur\, this serene light which rose before the musical wo
 rld like a breaking dawn\, troubled people enormously… at first one was 
 dazzled\, then charmed\, then conquered.”\n\nThe Organ Symphony by Cam
 ille Saint-Saëns is universally loved for its triumphant finale (famous t
 oo from the 1995 film Babe). This finale is especially effective following
  the tussles of previous movements\, and the long-awaited arrival of colos
 sal organ chords - something you feel as well as see and hear.\n\nAll of o
