Choral Scholarships 2025-26 Queen's Park Singers, a vibrant amateur choir of around 50 voices based in North London, is excited to offer two 12-month choral scholarships (one soprano, one tenor) for the 2025-26 season.
About the Opportunity These scholarships are open to aspiring young singers aged 18 to 30, or those in full or part-time music education, who are keen to develop their ensemble skills and contribute to the choir's growth. We're looking for confident vocal and musical support at our Sunday evening rehearsals (6:20-9pm during term time). Scholars will also be expected to attend three to four concerts a year and actively participate in other choir activities, which may include singing solos, leading sectionals, social media promotion, or helping implement our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion policy. Each scholarship offers a stipend of £1200 per year, with the possibility of extension for a second year.
Auditions & Application Auditions will be held on 21 & 28 September 2025, before and during rehearsals. Please prepare two contrasting songs and be ready for a short sight-reading test. To apply, send your CV and a short covering letter to Monica Healy, Chair of Queen's Park Singers, atmonica.healy@btinternet.comby noon on Sunday 6 July 2025. For any questions or to discuss this opportunity further, please contact Monica directly at the email provided.
Our Repertoire & Activities Queen’s Park Singers is a friendly, non-auditioned choir established in 1998, celebrating classical repertoire from Medieval to Contemporary. We're dedicated to developing musicianship and vocal skills, striving for high standards to delight both ourselves and our audience. Our 2024-25 season included Brahms’s German Requiem, Dowland’s Firste Booke of Songes or Ayres, works by Britten and Lili Boulanger with harp, Beethoven Symphony No. 9, and the final movement of Holst’s The Planets (with three sold-out concerts!). Plans for the 2025-26 season feature a concert performance of Purcell’s King Arthur (with baroque orchestra) and Poulenc’s Stabat Mater (with London Medical Orchestra). Beyond concerts, we regularly organize workshops (repertoire, vocal technique, musicianship), hold fundraising dinners, sing carols, perform at community events, support Queen’s Park Junior Singers, and collaborate with local composers. We even recently published our first recipe book: Treble Chef!
Our Music Director Oliver Till is a conductor lauded by The Times for his 'ambitious, intelligent programming.' He regularly leads the London Medical Orchestra, Barnet Symphony Orchestra, and Queen’s Park Singers (since 2015). A former Westminster Cathedral chorister, Ollie studied at the Royal College of Music Junior Department before continuing his training at the University of Manchester, Dartington International Summer School, RNCM, London Sinfonietta Academy, Järvi Academy, and Sibelius Academy. In 2014, he founded The Asyla Ensemble, known for its innovative programming, including pairings like Ives with The Nutcracker, and Reich with Rameau. His opera conducting credits feature a sold-out The Cunning Little Vixen at Grimeborn, along with La bohème and the Da Ponte trilogy. He has assisted on numerous productions, such as George Benjamin’s Written on Skin and Lessons in Love and Violence. As a pianist, Ollie frequently accompanies vocal students at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and has worked with Sir Thomas Allen at the Royal Opera House. A strong advocate for new music, he has conducted over 70 works by living composers, including 44 world premières.
